Hello everyone, I just can’t hold myself back, I have to write down at least some of the happenings of the last days.
The bike shop:
Yes, as I already have mentioned the staff there was not very handy at all. Especially one guy, who really meant all his try’s to open the blocked screw serious and friendly, but just didn’t have the skills to do so. I mean, I did not neather but watching him trying to use the tools of the shop was no pleasure. I tried several times to take the pedal from him in friendly ways but he always grabbed it back. He wanted to find the solution himself and tried again and again the same thing, switching between using a hammer and a screwdriver, which both didn’t succeed at all. I told another guy in the shop that I would need a file or a saw to fix the issue and he was so friendly and brought me the tool from another store. I cut a new flat shape at the end of the screw so that I could grip the screw much better. After having been at the bike shop nearly 5 hours watching the guy try and brake all his tools and getting more and more persistent in soluting the issue himself, I somewhat more definite grabbed the pedal crank and only needed about 10 minutes to loosen the screw. As I nearly had the screw turned out of the hole, he pushed me a side to make the last turn himself. I must say, I do always appreciate people trying to help, but I can’t stand a aimless fumbling on important spare parts and seeing that the problem only gets worse.
I hope this doesn’t seem to arrogant.
We left Wuhan in the evening, much later than we had thought. The traffic here is killing and this city is known all throughout china for its crazy traffic.
We decided to still go on and at least make 170 km. crossing this metropole was not easy, it took us 3 hours only to get through. We put up our tent on a lawn next to a metallurgical factory, fell a sleep with pouring rain an got up at 5:00
Although my throat hurt we decided to try making 200 km today. We didn’t succeed. A quick session of sorting out stuff we won’t need any more and finding an iPhone and giving it back to its rightful owner took us half day, my throat got worse and so, early in the evening we decided to look for a cheap hotel.
That’s we’re I am right now.
So far my short notice.
