I am finally sitting in the emex/FedEx office to send home some valuable video material. We have been circling and searching this office for hours before we found it .It’s in a building you would never expect it to be and has no sign on the exterior. It’s hot and we have to wait here until we get the ok from the fedexcentral for our shipment.
This morning we were on the market in Oral/орад and did some basic shopping. And that really was fun. There are obviously not many European tourists here which gives us a touristbonus, again we got things like tea, sweets and nuts for free and not at all had the feeling that we had to pay more than others. Actually the opposite feeling was the case, maybe it’s because we look like we are starving, we have no more fat on our bones and thin faces from all the cycling. The last two nights we slept in hotels. It’s the plural because we first checked in into a small family hotel outside the city. Paul was a little sick from eating something wrong so it was better to have good accommodation. It was no good accommodation though as we found out later. 25 euro for two way to small beds covered in chewing gum and stinking. Also it was full of little creepy animals. The shower was barley existing and the toilet had never seen a brush or sponge nor was there any possibility to wipe your a** with, bring your own toilet paper. We paid 25 euro for the bloody room and 10 eur for our laundry which after being washed was hung over our dirty bikes so was quite dirty again. We left the hotel immediately after Paul was better and found us a new one in the center which was cheaper and much better. The shower in this case is a small room in the cellar with a cold water tap on the wall. But at least it’s clean. And the hotel has a really cool old-fashioned somewhat French-colonial style that gives us a expedition feeling. Thick stonewalls that cool down the place to a comfortable temperature.
We are nearly done here in the hot FedEx office and the rest of the day enjoying Орал is the plan. Let’s go for it before we leave again tomorrow to cross from the European to the Asian continent when crossing the ural-river.
Exciting;0)
